This course is intended for those who provide support and administration for a CIFS environment on NetApp storage systems running the Data ONTAP operating system.

Course Objectives

At the end of this course you will be able to:

  • Configure CIFS SMB 1.0 in Data ONTAP operating in 7-Mode and Cluster-Mode
  • Configure CIFS SMB 2.0 in Data ONTAP operating in 7-Mode and Cluster-Mode
  • Configure CIFS SMB 2.1 in Data ONTAP operating in 7-Mode and Cluster-Mode
  • Configure a storage for multiprotocol user name mapping
  • Discuss CIFS advance topics such as oplocks and group policy
  • Explain the PowerShell command-line interfaces and scripting benefits using Data ONTAP SDK
  • Troubleshoot and discuss performance monitoring for storage and client

Course Content

CIFS Administration course extends the CIFS information found in the Data ONTAP 7-Mode Administration and Data ONTAP Cluster-Mode Administration. This course will review CIFS (SBM 1.0) while exploring in more detail SMB 2.0 and SMB 2.1. The lab exercises will accomplish using Data ONTAP Cluster-Mode although 7-Mode configuration is discussed in lecture.
